Mayweather Not Yet Fulfilled Community Service, Sentenced to Jail for Domestic Violence
Two weeks ago, this blog reported about a lawsuit filed by McGowan, Hood & Felder, LLC on behalf of a popular South Carolina DJ regarding business litigation and music rights against Floyd Mayweather Jr. The boxer was scheduled to appear for a deposition in the case but cancelled at the last minute, citing medical issues. Videos from the evening of the cancelled deposition proved Mayweather was not on bed rest, but was partying in two separate nightclubs. After being presented with this evidence, the federal court sentenced Mayweather to 40 hours of community service. This community service was to be completed at the Las Vegas Habitat for Humanity by January 31, although Habitat Official Catherine Barnes told reporters last Wednesday that Mayweather has yet to begin logging in any hours. Mayweather faced more legal troubles in Las Vegas last week when he pled guilty to a reduced battery domestic violence…

Children Willing to Sacrifice to Benefit their Families
Christmastime conjures up images of children making out wish lists for Santa, preparing meals with their families, and waking up to piles of presents under the tree. A nice picture, but the reality for many families is they cannot afford the level of gifts and treats as they had in prior years. Children, for one, are usually the first to make the best of these situations and appreciate the true gifts in their lives. The Post and Courier reported that working Santas claimed children have been asking for less material items this year. Many children simply wish for their parents to be happy, for them to find work if they are unemployed, or for the struggling family business to succeed. Children in families who struggle to put gifts under the tree or food on the table are more likely to appreciate what they do have this time of year. Families…

McGowan, Hood and Felder, LLC Fight Back In Suit Against Champion Boxer
No celebrity or athlete is above the law, and a federal court recently drove home that point in a case involving a popular South Carolina DJ and a world champion boxer. Johnny Felder and Bill McKinnon of McGowan, Hood and Felder LLC represent the Plaintiff, DJ Tony “Gunz” Dash, in a lawsuit against world champion boxer Floyd Mayweather. The lawsuit alleges Mayweather improperly used Dash’s song track during a Wrestlemania event in 2008. As part of the lawsuit, a federal judge ordered Mayweather to appear in South Carolina to submit to a deposition. Prior to the scheduled deposition, Mayweather’s attorneys informed the court that the boxer sustained injuries from a fight and was under doctor-ordered bed rest. However, videos show Mayweather was not recuperating in bed on the date of his deposition, but spent the evening partying and burning $100 bills in two different Atlanta nightclubs. Back in court, the…
